Aging, Gender, and Health Research
Our research team is actively investigating aging, health, and the body, with a particular focus on body image, gender, and social inclusion/exclusion. Our research spans the fields of the sociology of aging and the sociology of health. We use qualitative research methods such as interviews, focus groups, and discourse and media analyses. We consider the ways that social norms and social position shape and constrain individuals’ body-related perceptions and embodied experiences in later life.
